UBA Digital Banking Team and MCC Engaged students at the CANADIAN UNIVERSITY OF MODERN TECHNOLOGY on the bank’s e-channels enrollment
On Monday 8 August 2022 UBA Sierra Leone in collaboration with the student union body of Canadian University of Modern Technology (CUMT) engaged the students of CUMT in a one-day public lecture with the theme ‘The Impact of Digital Technology in Banking’.
This exercise is part of the bank’s Digital Wan Pot Campus Storm Promotion. The Guest Speaker was the Head of Digital Banking at UBA, Mr Abdulai Ben Kamara.
In his speech, Mr Abdulai Ben Kamara highlighted how banking has evolved from visiting the physical bank branch to complete a transaction to using your smart phone to open an account and complete a transaction anywhere you are and at any time. A process in which UBA is one of the pioneers in the industry. He further stated that the intervention of technology into banking has not only increase transaction counts and volume but has also provided seamless services to customers. He also mentioned the introduction of cards that can be used at Automated Teller Machine (ATM), Point of Sale (POS) and for online purchases.
The purpose of the campus storm was to introduce the bank’s various digital products, open account for students and identified UBA Campus Ambassadors in the university.
A Team Member from the Marketing and Corporate Communications (MCC) Department highlighted the expectations of the bank for its Campus Ambassadors and what the ambassadors can gain from UBA.
Representatives from UBA were Abdulai Ben Kamara- Head, Digital Banking (DB), Kumba Foday-Ngongou- Team Member MCC, Patrick Fallah-Hollist- Team Member MCC, Sulaiman Turay- Team Member DB and Mohamed Serry- Team Member DB. In attendance also were the Executives of CUMT Student Union, The Registrar, Lecturers and students of CUMT.
At the end of the lecture students were engaged to open account by simply chatting with LEO on WhatsApp. The students were thrill that they can open an account in less than five (5) minutes using their smart phones.
