The Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Alumni Extend TEF publicity to Makeni and Bo for the first time.
The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) Alumni in Sierra Leone has extended an awareness raising drive on the TEF 2022 entrepreneurship call to two more districts in Sierra Leone. The team engaged people who converged at the Unimak and EBK universities over the weekend on how to take advantage of the opportunity and the steps involve in applying for the grant.
The one-on-one engagement approach backed up by radio sensitization programs, was geared towards encouraging more Sierra Leoneans to apply for the non-refundable seed capital of $5,000 plus networking and mentorship opportunities running up to the 31st of March.
”As a TEF 2018 alumni, I am grateful for the seed capital and mentorship training which I benefited from by just applying with my business idea. So, I am encouraging Sierra Leoneans to seize the opportunity to apply with whatever business idea they have even if their business is at the idea stage or have start up initiatives which are not registered because the application criteria are flexible to allow everyone to apply” said Phebean Swill.
The TEF fellowship intake is growing in Sierra Leone as the foundation awarded an overwhelming total of 54 successful applicants for the TEF 2021.
The TEF grant is the brain child of the African investor and philanthropist, Tony O. Elumelu, who is representing his personal commitment to creating a new generation of entrepreneurs, through his investment company, Heirs Holdings in all 54 African countries.
According to Tony, entrepreneurship is a critical back bone in driving Africa’s economy, and achieving what he terms “Africapilatalism”. However, this can only be achieved when African entrepreneurs are empowered with the requisite financial and skills capacity to launch their business ideas and potentials for a transformative Africa. That is why the TEF’s objective is to empower women and men across Africa to be catalysts of economic growth, eradicate poverty and influence job creations.
As the TEF Sierra Leone alumni team is set to be in Bo next weekend, most of the participants present during the orientation sessions in Makeni, shared their excitement for the opportunity and say they look forward to being the next beneficiaries of the TEF entrepreneurship grant 2022.
