No Wahala Loan can assuage COVID-19 impact – UBA
Apart from the over 900,000 global deaths COVID-19 has left socioeconomic debris in its wake.
To assuage these impacts, lending and multilateral institutions and our development partners are pouring money into Sierra Leone.
Speaking to Sallieu Sesay, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at UBA bank, he said their ‘No Wahala Loan’ facility can be used in this same direction.
“As COVID-19 has struck at the normal socioeconomic growth of the country and people’s wellbeing and livelihoods, UBA bank has positioned itself to make public that the bank is issuing this loan to our valued customers. To qualify for the loan he said the bank’s customer should be gainfully employed and must provide a letter confirming his/her employment from the current employer.
Sesay said the loan is available to employed UBA customers working in government and private institutions, adding that these UBA salary earning customers are entitled to borrow from Le1 million to Le500 million depending on their terminal benefit arrangement with their employer.
“UBA wants to make sure that our employed customers have access to these facilities at this time when COVID-19 has become a threat to the normal socioeconomic growth of people,” he said.
“Therefore we are encouraging UBA customers who work for reputable institutions to visit our branches and access this low risk loan as long as your employer confirms you work there. So, whether you are a journalist, a soldier, police officer, teacher, as long as you work for a reputable private or public institution, you are eligible to access the No Wahala Loan.”
